Hey everyone! I am changing the address of my blog. I downloaded the Blogger app so I could get used to blogging from my tablet before I leave, and I was really disappointed with the software! I expected that a big company like Google would have a better app for their bloggers. You can't add pictures or new pages or even change the formatting of the text (like font, etc. on blog posts). It's so lame!
So, I am switching to Wordpress. Their mobile app is amazing~!
Here's the new address: http://smooretravels.wordpress.com/
This way, I'll actually have control over my blog when I need it, and I can add pictures to my posts! Kind of important on a blog about travel!

Rough Itinerary!
Only 10 more days 'til I'm hitting the road - er, airplane! We also have our rough itinerary! Since I am anti-creeper, I won't say when we're going to be in each place, but here's a list of some of the things we'll be doing and seeing:
Also, for those who may be interested, I found a PBS documentary on Netflix called "Secrets of the Tower of London". It was pretty interesting. For instance, did you know they keep 8 ravens on the grounds at all times (with a full-time Raven Keeper). This is because of a superstition that if the ravens ever leave the Tower, it will crumble to the ground and Britain will fall. So weird - and pretty cool!
- Bath
- Cambridge, Bury St. Edmunds
- Canterbury Cathedral
- Chalfont St. Giles (Milton's cottage)
- Dickens' London Tour
- Dover Castle
- Greenwich
- Globe Theater tour (and seeing Julius Caesar while we're there)
- Hampton Court Palace
- Lakes District tour
- Oxford and Christchurch College (where John Locke was a professor!)
- Salisbury Cathedral
- Stonehenge
- Stratford-on-Avon (and Henry IV part I matinee while we're there)
- Thames River Cruise
- Tower of London
- Westminster Abbey
- Windsor Castle

My new traveling buddy!
My new camera came in today!!!!! It's my birthday present from my parents. They got it for me early so I can use it on my London trip. It's the Panasonic Lumix LZ400. It uses a rechargeable lithium battery. I haven't had a chance to use it yet because the battery didn't come charged, so I have to wait for it to charge.... and the wait is agonizing! Being a "grown up" sure comes with some wicked fun toys! :-)
My Mom's best friend is an amateur photographer and we asked her for camera suggestions. She actually bought this one for herself and really loves it so she recommended it very highly.
I also added a page to the blog called "My Gear" so you can see the stuff I'm bringing to London, such as my camera, luggage, power adapters, etc. Several people also going on the trip have asked me about these things, so I thought I'd put it all in one place for reference.
I am so excited for this trip! I seriously have a hard time containing my excitement and sheer giddiness some days!!!

Henry IV part I in the Globe Theater!
A couple of updates:
On May 30 I got my ticket to see Henry IV part I with the rest of my travel group at the Globe Theater/Royal Shakespeare Center! My seat is in the upper circle of the theater. I'll be sitting with my buddy Kasia. :) I was able to get one of the last 5-pound tickets for people 16-25! I'm so excited!!
My mom's photographer friend recommended a camera for me. It's $200. My current camera is a piece of junk so I'm looking forward to getting a better camera for the trip. I'll let you know if I end up getting it and what I think.
The Travel Study intern confirmed a few days ago that we'll be seeing Salisbury and Canterbury Cathedral and the Roman Baths!
Ah, it's getting closer! I can't wait!!

First Pre-trip Meeting!
It's getting REAL! We had our first pre-trip meeting today. (Well, technically yesterday since it's now after midnight. I am so excited that I couldn't sleep!) I am GOING TO LONDON! Oh my gosh. The more I think about it, the more excited I get! I think I am going to need a paper bag...
We covered mostly course syllabi and travel logistics in the meeting. I divided up the information into categories and posted them on separate pages for future ease of reference. I won't reiterate it all here.
This trip is going to be SO AWESOME and I can hardly believe it's really happening!!
